Those of you who regularly read my blog know that I really enjoyed the 2009 Lanessan. The opinions on this producer for the 2009s and 2010s appear to be split. Either people love the 2009 but dislike the 2010 or vice versa, but nobody (that I have spoken to or read) loves them both. So I decided to give the 2010 a try.
The color of this wine was deep purple/red. On the nose, the wine was not very aromatic, although it did have a vegetal component (green pepper) that I was not expecting (especially for this year). I drank this wine over two days and the nose did not open up. The palate was a little bit better. I got a bit of pencil shavings, a tiny bit of dark fruits (plum), and some green pepper. Not much else to report on this wine. The tannins were ripe and the wine had good acidity. Perhaps this was in a dumb phase (or maybe even flawed?)? If I had more I would definitely give this some more time. I may go and buy a couple more bottles to give them a try in a few years to see if the wine opens up in the future. Overall, I am definitely of the opinion that the 2009 is better (at least at this point in time since the 2009 is very drinkable now).
For comparison, here is the link to my tasting notes for the 2009:
