This was a great wine and a huge surprise! Still feels like a very young wine. This had huge acidity. Didn't write a whole lot of notes on this but there was some great salinity, very crisp and dry, maybe a tad bit of bitterness (like lemon rind maybe?), some stone, and some citrus fruit. Overally, this was a great wine and would definitely buy again.

I thought that this wine was very good. Quite a bit riper than what I was expecting. There is some earthy components to this wine. I get red cherry (dark red cherry here), maybe some red currant, some tea components here, maybe some plum (although not too sweet as I found that this wine was a kind of limbo between sweet and savory...not quite sure how to explain this). There was good acidity and it had quite a long finish. I would say that this wine is not even close to being ready but it is on a great track! Would not touch for at the very least 5 years.
Drank this side by side with their regular Riesling. The regular (not dry) bottling was much better than this. On the nose there was a slight petrol, a tad bit of pear, some granny smith apples, and maybe some white flowers. That being said, the nose was quite faint. Really nothing there. The palate was quite similar except that towards the end there was some dark/white chocolate. Very weird! Not pleasing at all. I did not like this wine very much. If I want a cheap Riesling, I would rather go with an entry level German Riesling or even the Ste Michelle dry Riesling is much better than this one.
Although I probably will not be buying this again, it certainly was not a bad wine. This is a ripe off-dry Riesling with a Medium finish. The nose was typical of a WA state generic ripe Riesling. On the palate there was some apricot, some sweet (not tangy) oranges, maybe also a bit of grapefruit (?). For me, it did lack complexity and acidity. For my taste, a good amount of acidity makes for a more balanced wine. Maybe revisit this in a cooler vintage?
Had this at Canlis in Seattle and it was absolutely singing. Beautiful Syrah. Complex, well balanced, with soft tannins. There was a good mixture of savory and sweet aspects to this. On the nose, I got some blueberries, some cherries, some meat, and some black/green olives (like a tapenade). On the palate, the savory aspects shine in my opinion. There was a good amount of fruits but the more predominant notes came from its savory aspects. Like to nose, the palate had some black/green olives, some meat (kind of like smoked meat), maybe a little of charcoal, and some blackberry/cherry/blueberry fruits. Very good acidity here with a long finish. I really enjoyed this wine! I would not wait if you have more bottles of this. It seems to me like this is currently as good as it is going to get.
Overall, I was not a big fan of this wine. Had this at a restaurant so I did not write a whole lot of notes. I remember it being extremely bitter. Not something that I particularly enjoyed. This is a quality white wine just not my style. All I got get from this is maybe some stone fruit and some honeysuckle?
Had this at Canlis. This was another great wine! Well balanced wine thanks to the good acidity. There was some petrol on the nose, white flowers, apricot, and peaches. The palate has some great minerality, apricot, a little bit of spiciness, a tad bit of nuttiness, and some citrus. The wine had a long finish that just kept going. Highly recommended and is drinking really well right now. Still very fresh.
This was a beautiful wine and, to me, a standout in the Savage Grace lineup. This was very old world in style with a little bit of a modern twist to it. Both the sweetness and the acidity seemed to be playing in great harmony here. On the nose you get a good amount of citrus (some lime and sweet ripe orange...maybe even a blood orange). Similar notes on the palate with an emphasis on the ripe sweet orange. There is also a good amount of minerality (or maybe stone or slate) and a good spiciness. Medium finish. I would definitely give this some more time in the cellar and this will be stellar.
This wine was definitely not drinking well at this time. I would stay away from these for at the very least another year. The tannins have mellowed a bit but all I was getting was overwhelming sweetness and oak. There was still some fruit but it was just masked by the oak. The fruit that did come through was dark ripe fruit. There is a good amount of acidity so I think that with some time this will shine. However, this is a do not touch wine for a while.
This is probably one of the most mellow (easy drinking on release) Dead Horse that I have ever had. I was expecting something a lot bigger/bolder here. I did enjoy the less in your face style that this vintage offered. Just not what I have come to expect from this wine. This will be enjoyable younger than previous vintages (<5 years). Both the nose and the palate are pure Red Mountain fruit/style. There is a mixture of blueberry, blackberry and dark cherries. The palate has similar fruit notes although these are very ripe. I also got a little graphite and minerality with some hints of vanilla. This is a full-bodied wine with a Medium to long finish.
