This is probably one of the most mellow (easy drinking on release) Dead Horse that I have ever had. I was expecting something a lot bigger/bolder here. I did enjoy the less in your face style that this vintage offered. Just not what I have come to expect from this wine. This will be enjoyable younger than previous vintages (<5 years). Both the nose and the palate are pure Red Mountain fruit/style. There is a mixture of blueberry, blackberry and dark cherries. The palate has similar fruit notes although these are very ripe. I also got a little graphite and minerality with some hints of vanilla. This is a full-bodied wine with a Medium to long finish.
